WCPH educates about vector-borne illness at Halloween Parade

Wyandot County Public Health staff enjoyed the 2024 Upper Sandusky Halloween Parade!

Staff dressed up as critters that can carry diseases, leading a picket line advocating for prevention. Represented were bats, cats, dogs, a fox, and a skunk all standing up against rabies and encouraging parade goers to vaccinate their pets. Ticks also marched advocating for Lyme Disease prevention.

WCPH's environmental health staff is best known for their inspections of local public pools, campgrounds, restaurants, and private septic and well water systems, but they also monitor vector-borne illnesses that threaten the health of the community too.

Help our the environmental division and stay healthy by keeping up with vaccines, vaccinating pets for rabies, and taking preventative measures (wearing proper clothing and EPA-registered repellent) when outdoors at times that ticks and mosquitos are active.

Wyandot County Public Health is nationally accredited through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). Established in 2007, PHAB is the non-profit organization that administers the national accreditation program, which aims to advance and transform public health practice by championing performance improvement, strong infrastructure, and innovation.
